Maa Modheshwari is widely worshipped as a form of Maa Matangi — one of the ten Mahavidyas of the Shakti tradition. She is the embodiment of power, wisdom, and grace.
Gandhi Samaj of Houston organises an annual Maa Modheshwari Havan in her honour, bringing the community together in prayer, devotion, and spiritual unity.
Maa Modheshwari (Modheshwari Mata) is the revered Kuldevi (clan goddess) of the Modh community of Gujarat, India. She is worshipped by Modh Brahmins, Modh Vanias, Modh Gandhis, Modh Patidars, and all other Modh groups as their ancestral deity, protector, and divine mother.
Her principal temple is located in the ancient town of Modhera in the Mehsana district of Gujarat — the historic hometown from which the Modh community takes its name. The temple is a sacred site of deep spiritual significance, attracting thousands of devotees from across India and the global Modh diaspora every year.
Maa Modheshwari is widely regarded as a form of Maa Matangi, one of the ten Mahavidyas (manifestations of the Divine Mother) in the Shakti tradition. She is depicted seated on her divine throne, adorned in red and gold, radiating power, compassion, and grace.
For generations, devotion to Maa Modheshwari has served as a unifying spiritual and cultural bond among all Modh families — connecting communities across continents and preserving a shared sense of identity, tradition, and faith.

Gandhi Samaj of Houston honours Maa Modheshwari as our Kuldevi and organises a sacred Havan ceremony in her name every year. The annual Maa Modheshwari Havan is one of GSOH's most spiritually significant events, bringing families together in devotion and prayer.
The havan is performed with traditional Vedic rituals, mantras, and offerings — invoking the blessings of Maa Modheshwari for the health, prosperity, and unity of our entire community in Houston and beyond.
